Northeast Ohio has enjoyed pleasant weather over the past week, and the forecast calls for more of the same as the weekend wraps up. According to the News 5 Cleveland Power of 5 Weather Team, Sunday should bring another mild autumn day that is well suited to time outdoors.

The day will start on a cool note. Morning lows are expected to settle in the mid to upper 30s and lower 40s. By Sunday afternoon, warmer than average conditions return, with highs reaching the mid to upper 60s in most areas and a reading near 70 degrees possible. Clouds should increase through the afternoon, and a light breeze may pick up from time to time.

The Snowbelt region, which covers Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula counties, will see some of the coldest air overnight into early Sunday. Inland parts of Ashtabula and Geauga counties could fall into the mid 30s, and a few spots may touch the lower 30s. Forecasters advise early risers there to grab a winter jacket, though it will not be needed for long. Temperatures are expected to rebound into the mid to upper 60s by afternoon under partly cloudy skies.

If Sunday reaches 70 degrees, it will be the first such day in more than a week. Another chance at 70 comes Monday. For late October, that would run about 10 degrees above average.

Rain looks unlikely for now. Any chances are expected to hold off until midweek, and forecasters say those do not look very impressive. The pattern could turn wetter by Halloween weekend, though it is too early to say whether rain will hold off until after trick-or-treating. Next Sunday and Monday are likely to be rainy at this point, and the weather team encourages residents to check back for the Halloween forecast.

The five-day outlook starts with mostly sunny and warm conditions Sunday, with a high of 70. Monday brings a few more clouds and another high of 70. Tuesday should be mostly sunny and cooler, with a high of 63. Wednesday looks partly sunny and a touch warmer at 67, and Thursday is expected to be partly sunny with a chance of rain and a high of 71.

The weather team divides Northeast Ohio into five regions to offer more localized forecasts. The Akron-Canton region includes Summit, Stark and Portage counties, with cities such as Akron, Canton, Hudson, Ravenna, Mantua, Alliance and Canal Fulton.
